From Deadlock to Deal: A Hiring Success Story by PeopleLogic

Business Development (BD) roles are commonly available in the job market and are often seen as “vanilla requirements” by recruiters. When one of India’s leading lifestyle companies approached us with a BD Executive hiring need, we initially anticipated a straightforward process. However, what seemed like a routine hiring request quickly turned into a challenging yet rewarding experience.
Premise: Our client, a top lifestyle company in India, needed a “Business Development Executive” to drive business expansion. Given the role’s critical nature, the hiring manager outlined strict eligibility criteria insisting on a 100% match, including, proficiency in the local language, an established network with property dealers/agencies, strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Challenge: There were two key challenges in this hiring journey.
The first was the prolonged talent search—despite conducting 55+ interviews and reviewing numerous profiles from various sources and vendors, the role remained unfilled. That’s when PeopleLogic stepped in, bringing nearly two decades of expertise and its proprietary 3S creative sourcing method to identify the perfect candidate.
The second was a critical roadblock—while the right candidate was finally found, the hiring process stalled due to salary negotiations. The client, a traditional organization with rigid salary structures, found the candidate’s CTC expectations exceeding their internal benchmarks.
This presented a tough decision: let go of the ideal candidate or strategize to accommodate the shortlisted candidate.
PeopleLogic Approach and Strategy
Candidate Communication & Engagement
Our ISV team ensured the candidate remained engaged throughout the process, recognizing that an unengaged candidate is a lost candidate.
Client Communication & Advocacy
Simultaneously, PeopleLogic’s ISV team actively worked with the client, making a compelling case for why the candidate was worth the exception.
Strategic Discussions & Negotiation
Through multiple discussions with stakeholders, we helped the client analyze the risks of losing a highly qualified candidate and explored the possibility of creating a new employment level to accommodate them.
Patience & Persistence
Over several weeks, our team remained steadfast, balancing discussions between the client and candidate while providing strategic guidance when needed.
Success: After thorough discussions and careful evaluation, the client found a way to accommodate the candidate within their internal framework, leading to a successful onboarding. This experience became a valuable milestone for Team ISV, further reinforcing PeopleLogic’s expertise in overcoming hiring challenges.
